seems like freesat have left out alot of channels from their service. i would of thought that you'd be able to manually tune these 'missing' channels ? however if not i cant see the point in freesat why would anyone pay for a service that offers less FTA channels on the same satellites as a service that is cheaper to buy out right (if you buy a Sky receiver & minidish yourself from eBay & Amazon) & is also FTA ? seems pointless to me.

The Humax Foxsat box lets you scan for non Freesat channels, like Luxe HD

On the Humax Foxsat receivers you can tune in other channels in FTA mode. See SAT-WORLDS thread.

Also they are supposed to be adding new channels frequently, there should be approx 200 on thereabouts eventually.

if you can add them yourself then that seems ok, otherwise it would seem pointless.

The point of them is 'plug and play' free satellite TV for the masses, like a Sky box, without having to shell out a monthly fee and loads of channels in the EPG that you can't watch.

The problem is, each channel has to pay a subscription to appear in the EPG, so if it is not-cost effective to do so, they won't, but once Freesat takes off a bit more, more channels will gradually appear.

yeah but for the time being a Sky/FTA receiver is the better bet for more channels.
