Default Tearing my hair out... TT-1501 faulty?

Hi

I have just build an HTPC:

Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2L iG33 Express
2GB RAM PC8500
E8400 @ 3.0 GHz
ATI Radeon 2600XT
TT Budget - 1501

It's running XP SP 2.

I'm connected to V*rg*n Media cable.

The TT-1501 is installed with latest drivers (v 5.0.0.15). I'm trying to follow the tutorial from the DLs section on this site: DVB-C progdvb and files.rar

When I start up PropDVB for the first time it crashes (locks up and uses over 1GB of RAM) - at the point in tut where it says to close it on the 'cabel (dvb-c)' dropdown.

I have also tried DVB Dream which at least lets me run a full scna, but comes back with 'No Signal' for every channel.

Can someone help. Does it look like my card is faulty. Is there any way to test the card.

Not sure if it could be codecs (as far as I gather this would be more connected with bad pic quality and/or sound) buty I think that's a stage further than I am at the moment.

Oh, and I have installed the M$ hotfix connected with crashes etc with TV cards.

Any help greatly appreciated.

check all connections and remove splitters etc, are you doing a full scan or scanning transponders for your area???

Thanks for the reply. I reinstalled the drivers for the card and rebooted.

Have done a full scan using the UK bruteforce. At least I can now view free channels so card is definitely ok.

Just need to work out how to get those encryted channels.

Followed the instructions for insatlling the Vplug plugin, but the encrypted channels are still locked. Do i need to do another scan now?

Cheers

Hi blackip, lets try with dvbdream first as I find it has less bugs than progdvb, do you know your area symbolrate ie. 6952, 6887? when you have added the transponder file to dvbdream have you overwritten the 5000.ini with the one from the downloads?

Hi Willin

Thanks for the reply.

I have also tinkered with dvbdream and find that when I scan I get 'no signal' from all channels. I have replaced the 5000.ini with version in the downloads section.

Like I say I can now get all the free channels using ProgDVB - so I think this means that my drivers and card are definitely ok.

I'm also unsure how to find my symbolrate - I am in UK Vgn Media area (ex TW). How can I find this?

Thanks
Blackip

if you look in the EV section there is a sticky for net id's, then you need to otain the latest keys for your area, enter those i vplug and away you go.i think,

Ah ok - thanks - I got that bigmaque toolbar and found the codes but can't work out how to get them into Vplug - there are loads of options that I dont think I need to use. Are there any docs for vplug??

Are you using ProgDVD thumperstu?

im using DD instead, when you open vplug there is an edit icon which opens up a window, if you search for your provider you can simply enter new code

I think TW is 6952, your nearly there if you got the FTA, and you must have the correct symbolrate! right click on the key icon (top left) in vplug and select quick op key editor, it will ask for a key (from big maq) 00 or 01 input the one it asks if it don't clear do it again it may ask for the other key. let us know!
