How to flash a DBOX2: A DBOX2 cannot be flashed using a standard null modem, (db9f to db9f)cable. A DBOX2 must be flashed using a network crossover cable You can purchase a crossover cable from eBay, maplins, play.com, or PCWorld. A crossover cable is sometimes referred to as a patch cable. 1.Plug in one end of the crossover cable into the back of the DBOX, and the other end into the back of your pc. Disable any other connections by right clicking on them and selecting disable. 4.Right click on the connection your DBOX is setup as and select Properties. In the window that now appears right click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click the properties button. The DBOX should be blank with no channnels on it. Press the DBOX button, go to settings. Select Network. IP Address: 192 168 000 100 Subnet Mask: 255 255 255 000 Broadcast: 192 168 000 255 Default Gateway: 192 168 000 002 DNS Server: 192 168 000 002 Once all these settings have been entered, select Start/Restart Network Now. 6.Go back to your pc, start Internet Explorer. 7.In the address bar enter ftp://root:dbox2@192.168.0.100/tmp If this does not work then change the word dbox2 to dbox. You should now be presented with a list of folders. 8.Minimise Internet Explorer. 9.Find where the image file you want to flash the DBOX with, copy it to your Desktop. 10.Drag the image file from your Desktop onto the Internet Explorer page. 11.On your DBOX, press the DBOX button, go to Image Update/Backup/Restore. 12.Select Expert Functions, then select Write One Partition, then select Flash without boot loader, then select the image you dragged onto the internet explorer page, then select yes, and it will be flashed with that image.
