sagem dbox??

hi just been handed a very ancient looking sagem dbox its bigger than the original vhs video recorders. i am very up to date with all starviews and the arnet . am just looking at this one for a tight fisted friend. do i need new software or can i just program this one with the controller? can anyone help???

Sounds like to me you might ahve a dbox1 and this requires specific help. sorry I dont know about dbox1's

This is all i know lol

DBOX (also called dbox1) is an older version of the current DBOX2. It is not as

advanced as the DBOX2 and requires a specific firmware to be installed (DVB2000).

This software is not in open source, and thus cannot be easily changed/amended. It
has a SCSI interface at the back and NO LCD in the front of the box.

Update: some of

the later DBOX1 boxes have an LCD display in the middle of the front panel.

Although these boxes can be modified, a lot of work is required to get them up and

running

Hi, The Dbox1 and DBox2 look similar and are both relatively large compared to the new slim satellite and cable receivers (they don't make em like they used to!) Hopefully you have a Dbox2. Try googling Dbox1 and Dbox2, look at the images and find a match. If you have a Dbox2 you can look up 'The Beginner's Guide to setting up the Dbox2' which will tell you everything you need to know.... to begin with! Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Dbox1.
