Default Freesat in Greece

I receive most Sky channels here in Kefalonia, Greece with a 1 metre dish. BBC/ITV have just anounced a Freesat service using the Astra satelite. Will it be possible to receive the new service with my current set up assuming I have the Freesat box?

Freesat is using EXACTLY the same channels on EXACTLY the same frequencies as a month ago. If you cant get the BBC with your current kit you wont get them on a Freesat box.

(TBH Freesat is little more than a new set of boxes and a new epg)

So, does this mean if I have a freesat box, I could get many of my current channels, without having to pay a subscription to Sky?

You don't need to buy a Freesat box.

Pull the card out of your Sky box, that is what you will get if you stop subscribing, there may be one of two channels that an ex-subs card gives you extra, Sky 3 I believe, plus maybe a couple of others.

With the card out, you would get no more on a Freesat Box, or indeed an ordinary FTA sat receiver.

There are a couple of hundred free tv channels available on the sky platform (all the BBC, ITV, C4 and its siblings, shopping, religious, dating, radio etc)

Pull the subscription card out of the sky box and you will get an idea of what you will (eventually) get on Freesat - at the moment there are only 80 or so channels on Freesat.
