Would appreciate any help with this problem. I have no experience with the starview except what I have learned from reading this forum. I have a D-Box myself but my friend has had a starview original for more than a year. A while after it stopped working (the AU problem) he asked me to try to update it. I have flashed it with CryptStar 1.4 using GTRom v4.00 (successfully I thought) but I now can't access the menu to finish the job. The lcd on the StarView shows numbers up to 142 and I can change them with the remote control (which confirms that the remote is working) but I can't get into the menu. Any idea's anyone? I'm located in Ireland.

Are you sure it was a genuine SV not a clone before flash?

Thanks Satsmo. I'm pretty sure its a genuine, the cover has 7 x 25 slots and the only info on the front is STAR VIEW digital receiver. Looking at it with the display lcd facing you the power cable comes in on the back left and the scarts are on the back right. Inside on the motherboard is GTR 300CX Rev.A 2006.11.08.
Initially my friend didn't give me the remote and I went ahead and flashed it as per my previous post. It appeared to flash successfully (progress visible on the p.c and on the box lcd), I saw the note confirming that the downloading was complete, the box re-booted and the display then showed the figures 019 and I then powered off. Later, when my friend finally gave me his remote, I connected to tv expecting to be able to see the menu but there is nothing there and the remote only appears to be able to change the numbers on the box's display lcd. Can you think of any reason? Oh, and I forgot to mention that the remote looks like the photo in the forums that indicates 'latest genuine remote'. Last edited by Weary : 17-05-08 at 11:23 AM. Reason: forgot to mention remote control |

Thanks MOP but no dice. You see, the tv screen is blank - I can't call up the menu. No matter what key I press on the remote nothing happens. All it does is change the (channel?) figures that are on the display on front of the box. I can't access the menu even though the remote appears to be working!

Thanks to everyone for their help. I have finally got the problem sorted. It is a genuine StarView after all and the re-flash was successful. The problem was caused by the fact that I was using a faulty scart lead. Got a new one, hooked up and lo & behold everything back to normal.
