Hi people
just to say this forum is great as loads of info to read loving it anyhow down to the question i am in the northwest of the uk near preston and i am trying to find out what size dish i need for full reception of all the transponders on 26 degrees east (arabsat) (badr3/4/6) as i have been told conflicting information (some say 1.8mtr dish and some say 2.4mtr dish) just for some background info i am an independant sky installer and have been asked to price for a private job involving arabsat (so i am newbie for the stuff not on sky lol) any help or info from anybody that has done an install in the northwest would be greatly appreacited many thanks quicksy |

I can get a good signal off most of the BADR birds on my 90cm dish in the midlands. Even the MBC stuff on the weakest footprint comes through ok.
To guarentee more or less interupted service i would go for at least a 1.2m dish. I don't honestly think you would need any bigger ![]() This is the Middle east and BSS beam. 42= 120-150cms, 44= 90 -120cms ![]() This is the FSS Beam ![]() And finally the MBC beam which doesn't cover the UK even though i can get the channels on my 90cm dish ![]() ![]() ![]() Nano

Thanks nanochickin for the info and i think i will quote for a 1.8mtr dish anyhow as i dont need the callbacks on this job and also i can get that size at the same price as smaller dishes

No problems on this on a 1.0m dish in south wales but i would go for a 1.2m max to allow for rain fade,

robbo i think it will be the fortec from solutions group as i have had them before and it is good dish and easy build and i get a really good price for them
rd100 we have major rain here often as whatever the weathermen say is a lie for us just rain and more rain lol ![]() |
