Default Step by Step Guide to Using FXP (with pictures)

IF THIS IS OF ANY USE COULD YOU PLEASE STICKY IT

Here is a step by step guide of how to connect to your Dbox with the FXP Program. I connected to Dbox via router with Ethernet cable. Also please flash an image that has all the AU's fixed

For this to work you will need to change the I.P. address of your Dbox.

NOW LETS SET THE IP ADDRESS ON THE DBOX

1.Press the dbox button

2.Select settings

3.Select network

4.Set ip address to (192.168.0.100) & then set the subnet mask to (255.255.255.0) and set default gateway (192.168.0.1)

5.Now select start/restart network now then press OK then the home button & then select save settings now & press OK then press the home button

YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A WORKING NETWORK

That's your Dbox sorted now lets concentrate on your computer

Pic 1. Click on start then go to settings and click on network connections

Pic 2. Right click on the network that you plugged your network cable in to and select properties

Pic 3. Now select INTERNET PROTOCOL (tcp/ip) and click properties

Pic 4. Now tick the box (use the following ip address) and set the ip to (192.168.0.101) and then set the subnet mask to (255.255.255.0) and then set default gateway (192.168.0.1) press OK and OK again

Now that you have changed the I.P. addresses of the Box and computer lets connect them both and see what files are on the Dbox

Open up the Flash FXP program, Press F8 or the lightning bolt and you will get a box called Quick Connect on your screen. In the server or url box put 192.168.0.100, in the user name put root and for the password dbox2 (please note some images may have a different password i.e. commando images, the password I found to be commando), then press connect (see piture 5)

If everything has been set up right you should be able to see the files on the dbox (see picture 6)

Now if you want to flash a new image while you are connected to the dbox, put the image in the TMP file. But before you do I would back up the Service and Bouquet xml's first as this will save you time after the new image is flashed. The Service and bouquet xml's are located in the var/tuxbox/config/zapit file, highlight them and send them to your computer were you will be able to find them later. Also please flash an image that has all the AU's fixed

Now that you have put the new image in TMP file you will need to go back to your dbox remote.

1. Press the dbox button
2. Select Services
3. Select Image Upgrade/ Backup
4. Select Flash One Partition
5. Select Flash without Bootloader
6. Select the Image
7. You will be asked if you want to flash the new image, select YES and the flash will start. After it has flashed your box it will reboot.

When the dbox boots up it will probably tell you that there are no service or channels found and to do a scan. The quickest way I have found is to connect to the dbox and put your backup service and bouquet xml's onto the new image (please note that you will probably have to change the I.P. address of the new image). If you want to do a manual scan change the scan location to the area were you live and start the scan and you should find about 33 transponders and over 200 tv channels

My mate busta87 has kindly given me some images for people who maybe running Windows Vista, the picture show the process of changing I.P address on the pc. Below the pictures show steps 1,2,3,4 of the changing I.P. on the pc

Hi

Have followed this guide to the letter but when I get to the part where I have to go back into the service menu on the DBox I have a different menu.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

What have you got in your menu?
Some menu's show Expert Functions and when you press that option you will be back to as above in the guide.

Hey this looks like a great guide I have to say.

I have one question, where do we get the latest image file?
http : // cablebox.******* in the ENVISION SUPER folder - there is a .rar file
in the .rar file is a .img file - can this be used?

also, what do you mean by - put your backup service and bouquet xml's onto the new image (please note that you will probably have to change the I.P. address of the new image).

Put files back into - var/tuxbox/config/zapit - from your computer?

Yes it will work regardless of whether its a sagem or nokia,
When in network settings on your dbox Start/Restart network settings should be the red button.
