Infinity Usb Phoenix-strange Problem!!

I KNOW I HAVE STARTED BITS ABOUT THIS BEFORE BUT THOUGHT I WOUJLD GIVE A BIT MORE BACKGROUND/INFO ON IT!!

hi i have just purchased an infinity phoenix i have been trying for last day, i have a funcard 4[new blank], connect the infinity using usb only, funcard4 wont autodetect[should be prussian 2(fun4)???I THINKsays fun4 on card which is alias prussi'2 ] but says 'custom' card when autodetect!, if i set it without autodetect and slect card myself which i did to start with, [withoutcardinserted] -then insert card i still get the same......

i can write the int eep to card only after its been erased usual i presume?,but every time i try and write the flash it fails [from anything from 2,5 upto 50 percent this is the most it has wrote to card, the error i keep getting is
'cannot verify location''' all the time same error!! if i write the files by just pressing the write button[rather than selecting down arrows!! in the infinity software it writes even less to the card#!

i have asked several forums still no joy driving me mad,

u dont expect it on summit new, though these things can inevitably go wrong! -
have you any ideas plz incase im missing something,
i have tried with usb hubs differnet hubs , straight into to pc ports usb 1&,2diff' pc[several] ,i get the same--could it be card?? i have only 1 fun4 which was new so cant try any others. As i have none now apart from my new fun4.. i have used the fun progger in past but sold to m8 which has recently moved,,hence upgrade.

i specifically got this programmer to prog other cards if needed and for funs like it says on tin.

i have only used my serial cable for my max232[for ambits,etc] to my comport and i still use it for that now
so cable shud work on infinity progger[so thats that ruled out??i beleive?/and infinity wont be using that anyway its usb leadeven though its the phoenix is this right?]

Other info that maybe usefull to try and get a solution to this other than send back, but if its found to be working i get chargered restocckfee from jabsplace.

im running
Win XP pro also have machines with XP MediaCentreEdition05 and linux

ifinity firmware 1.06??
and infinity drivers 1.60 build.

also have .net framework 2
MS visual j#2 redistrib' package
i havent tried inunstalling these yet as i need it for the 250 configurator programme as i religously change macs twice week on ambit255[just paranoid],should it even make a difference???

on box says xp compatability...soo

any help or anyone that could shed some light onto this plz would be greatly appreciated, sorry post is long but i thought id give all info in one go thanks in advance!!

I can only think of two things !!!!

1) Faulty Card Programmer

2) Card Chip Might be Dirty

A few week back I had the same problem with a Funcard4. I was eating some cookies, and I seem to have touched the card chip ! when time came to programing the card, the progger couldn't auto-detect and when I choose Funcard4 from the list (i.e. I told the Progger what type of card it is) I got an error when writing the exteep.

So I clean the chip on the card with a damp cloth...and everything went perfect again

thans m8-dont know, but funnally enough when i opened the boxthe card had sommit on the chip on the bottom left hand side- when holding card with chip up/forward... it looked like glue[or jam really tough yellowy orange stuff??] and was arkward to get off, still i got it off with my thumb nail,and cleaned card by rubbing with dry!! cloth [ill try a damp like you} very carefull not to bend rubbed gently while on table.

seem perfectly clean after this , first thing i would have tried anyway! and have used and worked many timess!! good tip if dont know it! but thanx anyhows!!

but what iahve found is that when writing diff files to flash to experiment with size

it seems an 8k files fails at 50 percent erbeytime
an 32k file fails at 12 percentr each time
and a 22k file fails mainly at 2 percent upto say 7 rarely 11..

anycame accross this, or know what it is most likely to be wrong the card or programmer [maybe be best to send both back]what also can sometell me the best software to use[i have access to it!!] to reprog using the phonix mode on infinity usb phoenix that has serial port but can still programmes card for use in an stb!

hehe ok I'm sorry to say that I went as far as my knowledge on this subject so I don't know what else to say !!

I'm sure some of the experts on here will be able to sort you out

have you tried doing a different card ?? if it is same with a different card...then it is a progger fault

if a different card turns out OK, then the fault was with that particular card

Which infinity programmer do you have? I think the infinity usb phoenix has a usb connection for power supply only and an RS232 serial for comms. The infinity usb only has the usb connection for both. Funs/Atmegas are not programmed in phoenix mode, phoenix mode is only for mosc's and tits/opus, funs require the infinity software which came with your progger.

think i will order new card or try and get jabbs place sned me a new 1 maybe neva know?? seems only thing to do!!but any help of others would be appreciated if they can shed anylight on it!!ie the best progs to use infinty phoenix in phonix mode -best 3rd party software for reprogging card for use in stb!!

i have phoenix?? is there know other software i couiuld use,,or is it pretty much deffo faulty gear..

if im gonna send one back, i might aswell send both i have already emailed jabsplasce on subject nut no reply as yet! even in wm forums no reply..

so if erveryone says deffo faulty than its going back , am i allowed too use these forums -by printing them and putting in writing when i send back to jabsplace how ive tried to sort it out b4 sensding it bak, ive tried everywhich way.

I noticed you said when i programme inteep, your not putting your exteep into inteep are you, as you dont need an inteep file anymore, toxic or rhv1 or rom bin is your exteep.
Select card when inserted, erase first, try writing exteep first then flash ,otherwise its more likely to be a faulty card.
