Default Sony 711 Hdd Recorder freeze cured

Good Morning.

After 3 years freezing, I have finaly cured the dam thing. The trouble was
recording direct from the EPG, some of the programmes, that is content is
currupt, as a few have suspected.

After a few days recording on either HDD or DVD via the self timer
system, not a problem of freezing yet, also I suspect a big problem
is also asking the 711 to record differing channels via epg with a continuous
programme trail that is ITV 7.30 to 8.00p.m. then BBC 8.00p.m. to 8.30p.m.
then ITV 8.30 to 9p.m.(wife likes soaps).
So I treat the 711 now to only manual record times with a minutes space
just like the old VHS sony recorders.

Last problem was record via EPG say ITV for 30 mins and the dam thing
would record for ever.

So after much lack of interest from Sony, I have cured the 711s problem of
freezing. I was aware from DS there are hundreds with this problem.
and no overnight software update ever cured it,Sony must have known this
so why the hell not tell us.I was banned by DS for being too anti Sky as they put it,yes a life ban.

hope this helps, after all the 711 cost £500,and was destined for the skip
or I was as SWMBO said, get something that works.
