You may well be right, Bob. Now we just need to find a work-around...or wait for another software update, which could be a while!

I wish the makers or the transmission people would sort this out, they both know of a problem, but wont let on.

Apparently the BBC HD channel changed PIDs on Thursday, and it looks like this caused the lock-up. It seems that the Passion threw a wobbly but did sort itself out and updated the PIDs eventually.

My Fortec Star Passion has just totally frozen. Hadn't used it for 3 nights left it on standby. Switched it on, it goes thru the Loader screen then just sits with the BBC HD OSD thing. Don't think I even used BBC HD last time...

On the box a red light flashes when I try the remote, but nothing, it stays frozen. Cannot bring it to life even using the buttons on the actual box. I have just completely unplugged from the mains and see if it will come back to life. Very disappointed with this development on a 3-week old machine.

yes I did do the latest software update...

Like to get this working guys, this box keeps my tent warm when I go camping ;-)

Three weeks old, take it back, that is what I would do, get another make or your money back, no piece of kit that is supposed new should freeze
after three weeks and it will only get worse and worse.

thx for the advice, will the retailer (begins with 'M') screw me around on a full refund now that I have used the box and dish and done a software update?

Edit -and what box would you recommend? (pref one with HDMI or Component connection for HD)

No maplins should not screw you around, unless you have bought without a warranty, unlikly at Maplins.

If I had a box from Maplins and it went to icelandafter three weeks,I would want it changed, did you buy the dish as part of the deal or was it
a seperate? anyhow you can keep the dish, but remember the box will freeze again, as for HDMI or Component, some Sets may have both,I am sure some one with better knowledge than me will give you chapter and verse. As for the USB flash, does the manual say do this? or was it luck.
I have not looked ast the mapweb, if your kit is out of a suitcase(all
included), take it back.
