does a clone box exist or not?

also if i do an update can i use an rs232-usb cable instead of rs232 at either end?

Yes the MaxV has been cloned and the attached doc shows how to identify one (compliments of saroilium)

Using an rs232 to USB adapter, you still need to use an rs232 NULL MODEM cable as well.

the tuner only goes for 8 slots but it still has red paint on screws and stranded cables ,yet i bought this from a

reputable dealer in oldham?

Ssorry m8 looks like you've got a clone and there is no clone-safe firmware for the MaxV's so you're stuck with manually updating the keys

Better talk to the dealer

At work at the moment, but I have a clone and I have put new firmware on it........

At least I`m told it`s a clone, and was told the firmware is clone friendly!!!!!!!
