Default Setting up problem

Hi,

Am I doing something wrong ?

I have got 5400ci+ usb and 100cm dish with diseq motor setup. I have d/w latestes version of s/w from Technomate (116 08-05-2008) I have latest patch (132p 200508) and updated the keys (21/5/08). When trying to find BBC World (11.325H/24.500) I do not get any signal. I thought that my setup was wrong - as a last resort stepped through the channels and it wasn't until I got to channel 38 (feed) and 39 (TMC 11.458V/8.852) that I got 98% sig at 66% quality. The channels I do receive line up with what I think is on that Sat.

When moving the dish I get some other sats and when I get a channel it appears to be correct.

Should I be doing a scan or something to actually find all the channels ?

Thanks for you help

Bruce

Hi, Welcome to the forum.

From the info you have given, I am fairly confident that you have not set the dish up for 0.8W as your initial satellite. That is where BBC World on 11325H is.

It depends on your longitude of course, what is it?

At the moment, it appears that your dish is pointing at 5W

If you tell us your longitude, you can be guided through the rest of the procedure if needed.

Also check the FAQs section for a couple of motorised dish setup guides that are there.

Hi Robbo,

Thanks for your quick response.

(How do I get rid of my Email address at the top as my name ?)

I am at 51.9N -3.2W I have moved the dish around but cannot get anything else in that region of the sky.

You typed it in mate

To get it changed to something else, you would have to PM brian the admin and hopefully he would change it for you.

Since you seem to have found 5W, and that is also the sat you should be using anyway, then you you should stick with that.

In the receiver setup, select USALS, enter your long at latitude, and send the dish to 5W. Monitor the transponder you found before and adjust the dish elevation for maximum qulaity, and swivel the motor around the pole a little if needed for MAX quality on that transponder.

Assuming that the pole is vertical and that the elevation on the motor is setp correctly, you should be able to get most of the other satellites using USALS.

No, you must enter either -3.2 or 3.2W, I can't remember which one it is, I'd have to check on my receiver later, to check which format it accepts. I think it is 3.2W though. You have to press the left and right cursor keys to change from east to west, if I remember correctly.

3.2E is incorrect.

EDIT, to change the position from E or W you move the cursor over it and press the OK button, the same for N or S.

So your case you want:-

Antenna Longitude 3.2 W
Antenna Latitude 51.9 N
