Smile Eurovox front panel

Hi folks,

I have had my Eurovox Max (Black) for around 18 months or so and it has developed a fault. The fault being that the remote does not respond after swithcing the Eurovox on after a few minutes. I thought the remote was faulty, replaced the remote and still found the problem occurred. So after wasting a bit of money on a replacement remote, I found that if I open the front flap of the Eurovox and place the remote sensor on the remote next to the remote sensor on the Eurovox, I can use the remote. So the remote works a few millimetres away from the box, which is not ideal .

I have the latest firmware on the box, the one that came out at the end of April, but my problem occured prior to the latest firmware. I have reset the box back to factory settings but I get the problem.

So I have come to the conclusion that I need a new front panel, which I read on this forum in another thread that ebay was selling them, but I cannot find such sellers. Would anyone know of front panel sellers?

Or could someone tell me how I can send the box off to someone for repair, as I have not found anyone who repairs the Eurovox. Probably becuase they are made abroad and shipped here as an end distribution point?

Anyhow, thanks for reading my waffle!

Could be just a loose sensor in the EV, open it and you will see the IR sensor it is connected to the PCB, maybe just needs remounting.

Ok thanks, but I did open it and re-inserted all the connectors. Unfortunately the problem still occurred. I think the unit overheats and then the problem occurs, if I leave the unit off a day and turn it on next day then I can use the remote for a good 20 minutes or so. I think the worse case scenario is the motherboard could have developed a fault!

Maybe have you checked the C14 cap on the PSU, hardly at fault for a sensor problem but worth a look. I think Alex from Awsatellites does Eurovox Front Panels but if your problem is overheating it may not be the problem at all, in fact if it is overheating I would check that the heatshink on the CPU is OK and that you have no dry solder joints around the IR sensor.

From recollection, (while since I fixed a sensor), but it should have a tripod mount on the PCB, check the tracks for any faults. If it is overheating it may lead to a bad joint.
