Default Re: Starview PVR/The Box PVR - new firmware??

i wonder if that is the old firm ware with the key fix on it ?a lot of people were asking them to do that because they didn't like the new firmware that they released with the key fix
id read on another website that it was available but i didn't want it as the old firmware was sh*t , or unless its a bug fix for the new firmware as it was rushed out for the key fix , well i say rushed out we`d but been waiting for it for over a year
i don't suppose you'd know what it is would you lee-ds? save me trying it to see what it is

i just checked the firmware your on about lee-ds
it is the hacked (unofficial) sunrise version which is basically (BoxPVR_E_v4506_15Oct.bin) with the key fix put on it

so its basically down to a choice of preference Everton1 if you like the old firmware that i imagine you have on at the min go with the one lee-ds suggested or if you want to try the new firmware, at the end of the day you can all ways change them at any time time if you don't like

as to where to get them from sign up at wizardmod or down load their toolbar

Hi ste tails,

Nearly ready to throw the box in the bin.....

I have downloaded loader ver 4.03. I have downloaded bin file. When I run the loader it asks me for the bin file which I provide and then it asks for the stb model - what is this supposed to be? It also also says cant open serial port - why is this since I am using a usb connection? What file type should I check?

Appreciate your help on this.

Many thanks

your using a new version of loader to me, mine doesn't ask about stb(set top box) i will download it and have a look at it i set mine on app fill only but that could be different on yours so i will check first

if it turns out you end up having trouble with the leads you will be better just using a normal usb lead and using the usb method for downloading firmware
the good thing about the box is you have the choice my main box is eurovox which can only be done with the rs232 and a lot of people were having trouble as they didn't have a rs232 port on there pc or laptop and when they bought a usb to rs232 converter like you have couldn't get it to work
i found a thread on here about that have a read ,see if it helps you sort yours out but like i said you can just use a usb lead if needs be
USB To RS232 drivers

Ive just been trying to find the loader you referred to Ive downloaded both of the newest firmwares and neither come with that loader
so Ive just been searching for it it and the only time i see reference to that loader is in regard to the starview 2 box which is also called "the box " but you want "the box pvr"
I'm not sure but i think you might have downloaded the wrong firmware and that could be why it wouldn't work ?
what is the bin file called?

you want either of these

TheBoxPVR_v3105_08Dec2008 (which is the official one)
or
StarView PVR-21122008 (and this is the sunshine (hacked version))

they both use different loaders which come with them anyway
