i cant install emu on dreambox

i am wanting to put ccam on gemini image,whether i use the var folder and put its contents in the tmp folder or whether i put the image .tar.gz on the box,i either cant see the files when i use the folders or if i use image i can see it but,it wont let me install it.

what am i doing wrong please?

i dont know if it is already installed on gemini but,i got ccaminfo and put it on the box and i can see it,now i dont know if gemini already had it or if that was the one i put there.

am i supposed to reboot the box at any time during the installation,i can see other files in the tmp folder in the ftp prog and yet i cant see them when i select the tmp folder.

Hi mate, Just FTP the tar.gz file to the temp folder and then hit the blue button, now the 2 button and scroll down to manual install, click on it, then you should see the EMU, highlight it and then hit the green button and then a second time, your emu should now be in the box. Now back out of all the windows and get back to a normal screen.

To use the EMU you now need to hit the blue button again and at the very top of the window you will see common interface, hit the right arrow key, the one beside the OK button and then the green button, you EMU should now show in the info bar at the bottom of the screen.

Hope this is clear enough and that you get it going.

As guide to all those who want to learn about the emu installation, just use winrar to unzip the tar.gz file and read the install script. You will see where the script puts the files and how it changes the file attributes.

If you want you can then ftp the individual files to the Dreambox and change attributes etc. All part of the educational and training bit of satellite TV hobby.

You just need to remember that each Image has a different file structure to run the emulations. Do a search and experiment. It's great fun.

i cant see the install script,i tried to install e1-CCcam.tar i just put it in tmp folder.i went manual install and it said cannot install and big red x.

i am using the Gemini_410_DM500_23102007[1].img that was available in the fta section in the satellite link.

Unzip the file you downloaded to a folder and in the that folder you will see a tar.gz file, it is that file that you need, the file that you downloaded is no good the way you downloaded it. Right click anywhere in the folder where you are saving your dreambox stuff and make a new folder and name it the same as the EMU, then unzip the file to that folder, there will be a Cccam.tar.gz file in there and that is the one to FTP to the temp folder and then follow my previous instructions it will install.

For the benefit of some cable folks, who do not know enough to understand what an EMU is, it is useless on it's own and that is why it is not against the rules to talk about it here, it needs keys to be of any use to the box or anyone. Hope this clears things up for those who are not well enough in the know and don't understand what is allowed or not. I have a few in mind for this, I am quite sure they will know who they are.

this is the name of the file i got:
e1-CCcam.tar it is a winrar archive.now when i extract it to a folder,just for sake of it a new folder i then get a var folder,inside that is 4 other folders but the files inside all of them dont have file extension .tar.there is a bin fil some others as well in 3 other folders

if i put the 4 folders in tmp folder,even the var with the folders in i can browse them but,i cannot see the files.yet in the ftp prog i can see there are already files there i didnt put there and i can see the ones i did put there.

this is where i am at a loss.if i stick the original download that has .tar in the tmp folder i can see it but i cant install i keep getting error.if i use the folders i cant see anything full stop.

is this because the file extension is not recognised?do i have to rename the bin file or something?

i am not getting a .tar when extracting the original download just a folder,4 inside that with files in.

this is where i am at a loss.i understand how to install them because i can follow instructions when instructed and a big thanks for telling me how to install but,i just can see a .tar only folders and files and this is now.

sal, the file you downloaded is not a self installing file. Having unrarred it, the folders/files that you have can be ftp'd to the dreambox.

You probably have:
/var/bin/CCcam
/var/script/CCcam_cam.sh
/var/keys/CCcam.cfg

The actual names may change. For example CCcam_2.08 or CCcam.ppc

The files go into the folders as they are shown and the first two need to have their attributes changed to 'execute' ie chmod 755

After the files have been ftp'd to the Dreambox, it must be rebooted for the changes to be recognised.

i aint got a clue how to change attributes.

i will just ftp the folders to their relevant places and see what happens when i get a chance.then i will post how i got on thanks.

If you are using FlashFXP, right click on the file and select attributes. Then just change the number to 755. If you are using telnet then you need to use the command chmod 755.

I-m also trying to do a manual install on my Dreambox. have been able to put the various files in the correct folders. I get cccam 2.06 as a choice in the blue panel , but when I try to restart cccam 2.06 via the blue button the receiver stops, cccam will not start, and I have to take the cable out to be able to start the Dreambox again.

Anyone who can tip me in what i might have done wrong here ?
