Hi, hope you are all well this evening. I could really do with your help in finding out why my laptop screen lights up on boot up but no images appear on screen at any time. I just get a back light which is constantly on.
I have linked the laptop to another monitor and everything works fine. I have pulled the laptop apart to ensure that the monitor sockets are in place. They seem to be fine. I have a Fujitsu Siemens C-Series Laptop. ANY IDEAS???? If anybody has any manuals for this laptop, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I do not have your make or model of lappy, but if the desktop is showing when you are connected to an external monitor, then it would seem to be a screen failure of some sort and might mean that you screen is knackered, hope not but that is the way I would read it.
The video signal must be OK coming from the mother board and the video card if it is working on the external monitor, so that would lead me to suspect that the lappy screen is kaput, you might be able to pick one up on Ebay, just hope I am wrong. If you Google the make and model of the lappy with manual at the end I am sure you could find a manual on line. Very best regards Wez

Hi,
Thank you for your response. I think you could be right. In Device Drivers, there are 2 options under Multiple Monitors (1) Digital Flat Panel (1024x768) and (2) Plug and Play Monitor The properties for both show that the device is working properly. However when i checked the drivers details it states that 'No Driver Files are required or have not been loaded for this device'. Would this have any impact on the screen not working? Many Thanks

A silly question but are Laptop Displays classed as Plug and Play? Would they need drivers?
Just checked a Dell Laptop. Its monitor is Plug and Play and it also has a driver installed. However, somebody told me that Fujitsu Laptop Displays do not have drivers. Would this not cause problems, especially if the operating system is updated?

I should not imagine that your lappy screen would be classed as a plug and play, the term means what it says, you plug the device, a monitor, into the PC and the monitor plays without the need for drivers, so no way would the lappy display be such a device. As for the monitor being PnP that is most likely referring to your external monitor, because lappy "monitors" are called displays, not monitors. The Digital Flat Panel (1024x768) could well be the display of your lappy, not 100% on it though, but PnP would not be anything to do with the lappy. I am using a Sony Vaio and had a look and the only thing I see there is a PnP monitor, no mention of a display.
Very best regards Wez

Hi KerryWez,
Thank you for your input. I decided to pull the laptop display apart before scrapping it. I double checked all the connections and guess what, hey presto IT WORKED. Haven't stopped smiling since. Was my first attempt at opening up a laptop. Thanks Again

Well done and good luck with it from now on, I am very pleased for you. I the future you will not be fazed by anything that requires you opening the lappy.
Very best regards Wez
