Hi am quite new to this but hopefully not stupid time will tell got starview 1 trying to update but cannot open the bin files do you just download them into the box as is or do you have to open them first if so how do you open a bin file?????.Cheers.

Providing your box is not a clone and is Starview 1 original then here's what you need
GTRom v 4.00 loader, and Crypstar-v1.4 Bin file
Power up and Connect your starview to your PC whith a null modem cable
open the GTRom file, press Bin file on the loader and then click on the bin file, then press download,..downloading will start, wait till you see it say download complete on you PC, wait another 20 seconds to make sure its finished..

Jayes thanks for the reply tried it but it keeps coming up download failed ive got a rs232c 9pin cable is this the same as null modem cable as it comes up with same message even if not connected to box seems its not communicating?? thanks for any info

No although they look the same there is a difference in the wiring so you must make sure its an Null modem, you can pick them up cheaply on ebay, or from any pc store

Also might want to consider trying different com ports 1-4 on the GT Rom loader options

Jays thanks a million got a null lead and bingo worked first time one other quistion i used to have a ntl box run off my broadband feed but starview just comes back with no signal but works fine from cable feed do you know if they have alterd the signal on the broadband so you cant pick up tv?? as i said thanks a lot.Roy.
