Satellite needed for 2nd floor flat!

Guys I need help finding a small and discrete sat dish for a flat. It does have a balcony so there is a bit of scope for stashing it without the neighbours finding out?!! I was told recently that the existing dish thats on the wall next to the balcony needs to be taken off!! Anyway I have been going mad trying to find a suitable dish to hide and have only discovered a digicube that sits on the floor of the balcony and digiglobe that looks like lamp, I can't find a UK seller that may allow me to buy either and try it to see if it is good enough to replace the current dish. Has anyone got any of these and if so what is the quality like in terms of picking up sky etc? Also there was a pole antenna that was out a few years back, don't think that was very good as I have not found many people selling them either as that would have been an option too? I just want one thats going to the job and not cost me a small fortune buying and difficulty installing it?! Cheers!

Hi,

Southernsatellite sell both the Digiglobe and the Selfsat antennas. To be honest I can't see anyone wanting to lend you one to try out, but he may have more information on how they perform.

Also I was wondering if it were possible for you to lower the dish down below the handrail, so that it could not be seen?

Hi, I have no idea if that would work but I guess you're right I could give it try first, but seen as it will be in the balcony now, i want 1 thats not going to take up space. Furthermore I have a tree infront of the balcony so do you think I can face really upright so that it clears the tree and almost points to the sky, will that work or do all dish have to be at a 90 degree angle? It depends entirely on the angles involved.

For example I have my Sky minidish on a south facing wall, with a fence 0.9m away from it, parallel with the wall. The top of the dish is just below the top of the fence and cannot be seen from the other side.

It does,'t matter what type of dish you use, in the UK, for the 28E they are ALL pointing up by 20 to 30 degrees, even if the dish face is vertical.
