Hi, These boxes seem reasonably cheap is there much difference between this and say a new Kryptview or Eurovox, Do they still get software updates too and what would I need in addition, a 2 way splitter?, a null modem cable, anything else?, Thanks - Granty

The Dreambox is essentially a Linux computer that thinks it's a cable TV box, there are more variations of firmware available than for the Eurovox, but you do need some networking or Linux skills to get the best out of it - the Eurovox is more plug & play

Thanks Lincsat. Are there any clones of these and if so how can you tell? Also I have little experience of linux is it reasonably easy to set up and once set up is it done and as easy to maintaine as the Eurovox or similar, the one thing I am unsure of is what means the most to me and that's how much football it is possible to get through these cable boxes, is everything on sly more or less guaranteed? as I guess with satelite you can access some through Polish TV etc, I only know that cos sly on the case of my local pub for airing footie through satelite, prob not the most intelegent thing to do in the pub trade

There are plenty of clones around, like the Eurovox Ultra for example. Once setup, you can almost forget them, but any changes do need some networking skills - have a read of some of the posts from the last couple of Months

I have read through most posts regarding these boxes, so I guess you just have to take the sellers word for it that they are not clones, Are there likely to be any clones of the Eurovox 2008 as there is one for sale in my local paper for £45 - Thanks

if your thinking of getting a new box why not spend a bit and get a Dream 600pvr with plug and play tuners i have a d500 and a d600pvr and i think the 600 is far the better of the 2 you can also get clones of them but after dream used the time bomb thing to kill or disable the dream 500 clone boxs you will have to watch what image you use.
