Default Missing blind search and "satellite finder" on technomate 3000

Hi everyone,

First a quick introduction - skip this if not interested :-)
I'm pretty new to all this satellite stuff, but have been reading about it. The plan was to get the sky dish on the side of the house working (was there when I moved in), which I have now done (needed a new LNB), and to install another bigger dish to receive Turksat. I've had a play with a sky dish on the ground and have been able to pick up Astra, Eutelsat W3a, a few others, and pretty sure was getting Turksat but not with enough signal to get a picture.

To the real question:

I've just bought a Technomate 3500 for the following reasons:
* usb pvr/timeshift (had read that it didn't work properly on the 5200)
* usb - easy to patch/download channel lists
* has blind scan
* satellite finder "Built in satellite finder it will identify the satellite and display the name on the screen "

However I'm thinking that I may have made the wrong decision and may have been better off with a 5200 (which is also cheaper!) because :

* Although there is a blind search button (blue when in installation menus) it doesn't do anything.
* I cannot find any sign of a satellite finder in any menu.

Am I just being stupid or is that these functions are not actually available on the 3500!?

Did I make the wrong decision? I couldn't see much difference between the 5200 and 3500 except for the mysterious "satellite finder" function!

Thanks,
Jon
