New type of clone or original?

i was looking at a starview box on ebay. and the seller told me that its a clone but then said.

Starviews havent been produced by globalteq for over a year. if you still believe all the rubbish you read on websites theres no point you buying a cable box. Remember people whom post things on forums are not always experts in their fields

1)its a clone but you can load both softwares onto the box 
2)left i think? 
3) rs232. no box has usb to serial. U can buy an adaptor to convert your usb port to serial but you still have to connect the RS232 lead 

It doesnt matter if boxes are orignal or clone anymore. this is because updates are only available for clone anyway! This is due to the original manufacturer not releasing software in future. 

All that matters is quality

then when i said i beleieve that clone boxes die when you boot a original box firware on to it, he responded

not these clones

so what you think? will these clones die with original software or not?

I got an original box a couple of weeks ago for £85. I doubt these boxes are much cheaper, so why not just get an original?

Maybe he is speaking about the clone boxes that the EEPROM chip has been replaced in allowing for genuine updates. But even then there is more then one way for firmware to investigate a box.

Regards the rest of his supposed "expert" advice, firmware was only recently released for both clone and genuine SV1s after the last hit. If you are buying a clone use Cryptstar257 firmware simple.

because i can not find any sellers that are selling originals as the original starview 1 are not sold/made anymore. i need starview1 not the 2 or 3

if it does has the EEPROM chip how can i tell? is there away of finding out? opening the box or anything like that?

also if it does have this EEPROM chip do i use the clone firware to be safe or use the original firware?

Why do you want a Starview 1 as there will be no more updates for this box.If there are any more updates for Starview boxes it will only be The Box Super(Starview 3)

just type starview on ebay and look for one with a pictue saying tvgadgetz

because quite a few of my friends have this so i tought id get it too. den im planing on buying a starview3 or a pvr for my living room.

what you mean no more updates? so if there is another problem like the recent one and needs reflashing there will be no updates?

The last one was a Fix not a update.

Starview 1 will not have any more updates,do yourself a favour if want a Starview buy the Box Super and not a clone.
