Hey all,
Ok i'm a noob at this and all the info i have is from this site! Ok basically i used to have sky but the fees were killing me!! I then moved into a virgin area and went for virgin. However i've i think virgin fees are not real value for money! Ok so at present i DO have a virgin subscription but its the lowest tv pack avail. I would like to now go for either a satellite setup OR a cable setup. The things that i watch most is football. I hardly watch the telly at other times but when i do i'd probably watch comedy channels or the discovery channels as i pretty much like them!! Ok so i'd like recommendations as to what setup i should go for and any possible subs i would need to pay to other companies. I live in a mid terraced property and don't really have a big back garden but i wouldn't mind losing it to a dish either! Budget wise i'd like to spend 200 but no more than 300!! thanks |

Hi,
Personally I prefer satellite. With a motorised 1m dish you can pick up from satelltes all over Europe and beyond. There are some foreign subsciption packages that can be purchased, DigitAlb on 16E is the main one. With a cost of approx £125 pa for the general/movie package or £200 plus for the full package including sport (mainly football). Depending on location/dish size there is the possibility of picking up some fairly good free to air movies channels also. There are also a few other packages on other satellites like 1W,13E and 19E for example, but can be quite expensive if you have to pay for them. With cable TV you are basically stealing TV from a UK provider illegally, and to be honest, I wouldn't want anything to do with it. With a limited budget, I would reccomend for example a Technomate TM5400CI+, 1m dish and DiSEqC1.2 motor. You should be able to get the lot for under £200 if you self install. Robbo ![]()

![]() I've just about got a big enough dish so that I don't need to. ![]() I just think cable is different anyway, because you are physically conected to the provider, and secondly its a UK one. But hey, you make your own choices. I do. ![]()
