Hi guys,

yet another very novice question, will the BBC / ITV Freesat digital box work for FTA channels if pointed to Hotbird?
Any response on this will be much appreciated.

The answer for most of the current boxes is no...

Only the Foxsat HD box has the Non Freesat mode!

Keep forgetting the Grundig,Goodmans,Bush "Freesat" receivers ,don't have the Non-Freesat mode.

Does anyone know if the Panasonic Freesat IDTV's are going to have the Non-Freesat mode?

I have not heard anything, but I should think that they will not have, just what I imagine will be the case, I have no firm knowledge.

From what they have done to the Humax box, disabling the analogue HD output, they will have boxes that are good for nothing very soon. BBC HD a few hours a day, and no ITV HD for those that have the very boxes that were intended to be for ITV HD, whilst other boxes can receive ITV HD, what a mess and no sign of an end to it.

To say I am not impressed would be an understatement, in the extreme.

Very best regards Wez
