Post Digital TV forces advertisers to offer more

With so many different set top boxes available to digital TV viewers and also having the ability to skip adverts, there is a need for agencies and businesses to make an advert worth watching in order to get their message across. The first live TV ad was in 1956, when Sir Bernard Docker Chairman of
B.S.A paid for a national ITV ad of three minutes, in this ad he spoke
about why he was to be ousted as Chairman and asked for shareholder
support to retain him as Chairman of B.S.A, docker paid for the ad himself
after advertisng in all national dailies & reginal press, about his three
minute presentation, I watched the advert as a 15 year old, when ITV
did not cover the entire country, but it drew record viewers for the advert
in Granada,ATV & London areas and where else it was shown.
In the end Jack Sangster was made Chairman, the row was over Sir Bernard Docker not taking the Japanese serious as competitors.
B S As main sale was Triumph motorcycles.

The Name B S A, stands for Birmingham Smallarms Association, from guns
to Motor Cycles. Docker was a multi millionaire in 1956.

So todays live ad is for the Japanese Motor Trade, 52 years after the
first live B S A ad,although the Docker ad was for personal reasons,.it was a paid for advert and the first ever live UK TV ad. Ironic that the ad to be aired live tonight, in a way was Dockers & BSAs downfall.

Yes live it was, no idea of cost, but it was all put together within
24 hours.
