Bit more info mate-Box model? Sounds like a board problem but post as much info as you can for starters. Look in Enginers menu and see what the SNR is-could be as simple as a dodgy connection on the cable inlet plug

Right m8
Thanks for the quick response , much appreiciated . The SNR is ok it is 33.0db . The model is a 1000T . What other information do you need .
If it is a board problem is this repairable or is it new box time .
Many Thanks
Davie

Check the joint in the tuner can-these can become weak and a hairline crack can appear-if you have another tuner try that as well as that's a common problem on 1000's. Tuner can is best place to start as the probs you are getting with channels freezing/no sound point to signal I would say. Also check your actual cable that goes into the box from the wall point and see it hasn't come loose either end.

might be a bit of a longshot but try using an in-line signal booster, i know the slx1 model from ASDA works on cable signals

Check the electrolitic capacitors on the board too, look like mini baked bean cans, for swollen or leaking tops, not hard to replace.
