I was hoping that someone could help me with my Ambit problem?
I bought a 250 off flea-bay about a year ago and today have decided to try and mod it. I am following the Haynes Manual religiously but can’t seem to mod it correctly. I’ve managed to flash it correctly and I don’t think that I am doing anything wrong when I adding the mac address bit as well. I’ve been using the mac address which works on my modded SB5100, so I know that the mac address is good. The only thing that I see that I’m possibly doing wrong is the bit where you commit the mac address to the flash. The guide says - write_memory -s 4 0x807e8b98 0xAABBCCDD (press enter)write_memory -s 2 0x807e8b9c 0xEEFF (press enter) I’m guessing that they are “zeros” rather than the letter “O”? And I enter the mac address without the “:” inbetween each part of the mac address? The other bit of the mac configuration says - usb_mac_address <your usb mac address here> (press enter)write (press enter) I’m assuming that I actually add the text “usb_mac_address”? And to use the USB Mac, you add one to the last digit of the mac address (this step isn’t in one guide that I’ve seen)? After going through the steps and rebooting the modem it doesn’t work, I have tried using the Repair Local Area Connection and it doesn’t give me any error messages. The only other thing that I can think is wrong with it – is that it was a bricked modem when I bought it - when I power it up, only two leds come on – the power light when the power is plugged in and the ‘enet’ light when the Ethernet cable is plugged (and occasional flashing of the ‘ready’ button – is this normal? Thanks in advance for any replies, Bb69 |

Thanks a kind board member send me a copy ![]() Quote:
The ‘send light’ doesn’t flash, so I assumed that the modem isn’t bricked? usb_mac_address <your usb mac address here> (press enter)write (press enter) = IGNORE THIS BIT [/quote] When you say ‘ignore this bit’ do you mean leave out the text ‘usb_mac_address’ or ignore the whole command? Quote:

The only other things that I can see that I might be doing wrong is the DS Frequency – I’m inputting 402750000 as I’m pure N*L and using Annex A. Is this right? Thanks in advance for any help. Bb69 Last edited by billybob69; 01-06-08 at 06:46 PM. |

Scrub my last post. Finally got it working!
Hopefully this will help someone having trouble getting an Ambit 250 up and running -I think that it was a combination of a few things that I was doing wrong; (1) Where it says - usb_mac_address <your usb mac address here> (press enter) You need to be entering the “:” in between every second digit. (2) I wasn’t using a ‘120’ MAC address with i.e. cmreg-ntlhm120-light.cm (3) I changed from using Annex A to Annex B. Many thanks to those that have helped me. bb69 PS: And now onto my next project: Anybody know how to mod a Motorola SBG900 wireless modem? |
