Virgin Media Pace Box

Hi there newbie here, hope this is the right section to post this in.

I have got the code for telewest off the latest keys section of the bigmaq toolbar, however how do I enter this code onto my Virgin Media box?

My remote doesn't have a menu key (which is what I've read you have to press - followed by yellow button), so how do I do it?

My box is already 'done' by the way, it's just that I'd rather learn how to do this myself than to pay somebody to put my channels back on when virgin send the signal out.

hmm, upon further reading it seems I need a card reader don't I? And that there is no way to enter the code into the box itself?

think ur getting confused with a dbox, the method ur quoting is for a dbox or dreambox not a pace box. u need a card for a pace......and not a subbed box, talkback on a pace should be cut, ird & bk for the box should be paired with an au img on a mosc or fun card....

Yeah I think I am getting slightly confused by all this.

My box has been done by my mate, every 6 months or so I have to give him my card to get my channels back on.

So I'm guessing now that I need some kind of card reader? Is that what he is doing when he updates my card every 6 months or so? Putting it in a card reader?

if he's charging u he ain't much of a m8....is it a normal cable card? - if so he's using a card programmer to read the img and update the dates on the card.....suppose it could be worse he could update by only 1 month...a programmer eg a infinity usb costs around 20 quid i think...the software is freely available on the net...

When I say a mate, I mean somebody I know who used to live by me a while ago

So I need an infinity usb & that will knock me back by about £20?

Whilst you are here mate, I have a cable modem that is chipped, I think I read I can upgrade it myself so that it supports 20MB instead of the 2MB I am on right now.... is that right & easy for a novice to do?

sorry m8 look like they have gone up a bit since i bought 1

have a look on fleabay or g**gle u may get 1 cheaper.......if the card is locked or blocked which it probably is to protect it u may not be able to read it to get the pace boxkey which is vital.....your m8 has probably made a note of this somewhere....you can jtag the box, model dependant to get the bk, but reading the card is the easiest option......i think u will have to do sum reading b4 u splash out..u could end up spending alot....have a look at the box is the boxkey written on the underside it will be 8 pairs of hexadecimal digits?

ps i chipped my 4mbit to 20mbit once, its pretty easy but u need to use a genuine mac from someone whose paying...for some reason i thought this was wrong so i knocked it on the head,,,,,i pay for 20mbit also all these leachers use up bandwidth dedicated to paying customers....but that's my opinion....i just hope noone has sniffed out my mac address....

There is indeed an 8 digit number on my card (written on in felt tip), so I'm guessing that just made things a whole lot easier?

Also did you see the bit I edited into my above post about my modem, is that simple to do?

it does make life a lot easier and i've added my thoughts on modem hacking

is it 8 digits or 8 PAIRS of digits

the 8 digit might be the ird u will need another 16 didit number/lettes which is ur boxkey the ird should start with 12 for pace or for sammy 3E.
