I bought mine from an ebay seller in Germany - was quick and helpful.
if I had my day again I would buy a new dreambox or igate 220 though. dbox's are getting old now and they're all going to die slowly over the next few years. Stop press: ebay item 370056711259 is finishing in 22 mins and is looking cheap, cheap, cheap Gone: it went for €81 in the end so worth checking out that seller if you're set on getting a dbox2 Last edited by blah2809; 03-06-08 at 03:36 PM. |

dbox2's haven't been made for quite a few years - 7 or 8 as far as I know - so the boxes are getting on a bit. Every dbox2 you see for sale is therefore second hand and although they could run for longer components do fail especially the tuner so it is a little bit of a lottery as to how long one will last you.
There's a bit more confidence with new boxes such as dreambox or itgate that they have a guarantee and are new so should have a more definite lifetime. The itgate also is reputed to support some technology which future-proofs it in some ways but not sure how true that is. |

some people have recommended the dreambox 7025, (since i am also interested in switching between cable & satellite use?), but its a bit out my price range. is there another box anyone can recommend. i've heard people mention itgate, which is closer to my budget (<150 quid). does it do pretty much the same job as dbox2 & more i assume? thanks jas |
