One of our pcs the other just refused to start up. Doesn't even run bios startup. There is no activity in this machine at all.
When the power cable is connected the mother board power light is on. So I thought a broken power switch. But when I hit the power switch I can see the fan twitch...just a little bit. I'm stumped. Any suggestions as to diagnosing and fixing?Cheers |

If it is old, the bios battery may be kaput. Worth trying a new one for the price.

Usually the problem is the PSU, as you're not getting anything at boot up. If you have access to another PC, try taking the Power Supply Unit from that and connecting it to your other PC.

There is a possibility it is your power supply as i believe these days they have seperate supplies to various components
usually if you can't post it is your power supply or bios, you could try a battery change as suggested by Jimdefruit or change the jumper over to do a CMOS reset or take the battery out for a couple of minutes (with all power off) |

Have you tried disconecting from the mains and then reconnecting. Sometimes they will 'trip' for safety reasons in response to something mains derived and need to be powercycled to reset.
