Default newbie advice on hd channels

I have just purchased a LG 42" LCD hdtv. I have virgin cable with basic package as well as sat dish 28 east with just free to air chanel(no subscription).
Will I be able to recieve any hd chanels that are free on virgin or sky. If not what is the cheapest possible way to get any hd chanels.

Sorry this is my first of hopefully many more. What an excellentand mindboggling info here

thanks

For satellite HD channels you will need a HD box. Either a fully subbed up Sky box for a lot of choice, or a Freesat or FTA HD box with a choice of BBC HD, ITV HD or Luxe TV HD.

Freesat HD boxes are £150, eg the Foxsat from Humax.
FTA boxes that will work inlude (but not limites to) are the TM6800/6900 or a Darkbox HD. I think the latest MVision HD can get ITV HD as well.

As for Cable, I suggest you look on the Virgin media website, you would have to pay a sub for a HD box instead.

Robbo.

Just to add to the good advice which Robbo has given you, you can also use the Foxsat box for any other satellite and receive any free HD channels, if you get a motorised set up.

You will get nothing free from Sly, they don't do free, unless they are panicking and they would seem to be at this moment, as their Sly+ ads would indicate.

Very best regards Wez

Yeah , I forget about that Wez, they were giving away HD boxes weren't they? If you subscribed.
