Hi n welcome to TW

First things first: are you sure that you really need a CAM?

To establish this, you have to give more information such as what satellites you can currently receive through your dish(es); are you trying to open particular scrambled channels with the CAM or are you trying to use the CAM for a particular official viewing card.

Having said all of that, it seems that one of the more popular CAMs at the moment is the Diablo CAM.

Ah, since you have a motorised dish a CAM may be useful. A CAM does two main things: (1) can be used so that the receiver can accept some official cards; or (2) can on its own open up some encrypted channels without a card.

I don't use CAMs and don't know how to programme them but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to help on the programming side.

Hi pip,
It has been some time now since I used a cam, but they are very easy to update, the only drawback is that the need to be updated quite often.

You need to download the latest version of the cas interface studio, it is version 8.4. You then install it on your PC/Laptop, you need the cas programmer connected, but no cam in it for the first time running of it.

You then need to download the latest files for your particular cam and then run the cas programmer, in the window that appears you need to erase the software first, then you need to load the bin files to the cam. That is about it. You can enter the required stuff using the remote control, without the need for the cas, but it is a lot easier with the cas.

Hope this is of help to you, I am sure that someone will explain things better to you.

Very best regards Wez
