total Noob

Hi Guys im a total Noob to this whole modem thing and i wanted someone to point me in the right direction to get me started. Im currently subscribed to Vir*in media on the 20mb soon to be down graded to 10mb because it working out too pricy for me anyway i was just going throough the posts and i read something about getting your modem to download at 20mb and upload at 1mb is that 20mb/s . if it is then im missing out bigtime.. anyways ive got an old blue N*L 250 modem lying about which i want to take a stab at but i have no idea what im doing so can someone please tell me what i need to get what i need to do to get this 20mbs thing going. much appreciated guys

you can download a tutorial on a torrent site called haynes cable modems
