The decoder most likely doesn't know its arse from its elbow.

What channels are you actually getting? and can watch.


The Sky dish should have been set up for Astra2 as that is where Sky UK is tranmitted from.

A year ago a friend set me up with an old Sky digibox, a new dish, wired it all up, we found the satellite, and hoop-de-doo, I had all the free to air Sky channels

- not possible unless the dish was on Astra 2 (28E).

Well we all know there's two kinds of "free to air Sky channels".
1. The kind you receive from Astra 2 with any kind of digital satellite receiver, which are broadcast by BSKyB (Sky News).

2. The kind you receive with any satellite receiver pointing at any satellite, which come from the sky.

The Sky digibox was definitely on Astra 1. I didn't move the dish except to tweak the signal strength, and that's what I'm picking up now.

The Sky digibox is probably still fine; it was probably struggling because it has reverted to the Sky default transponder on 28e and when it was not getting a signal from 28e it was 'unsettled'.
