Default Progamming card.

Right! I've received my FloppyDTV, Joker/Zeta Cam (yellow lable), Infinity USB Unlimted and a few fun cards (incase I break one!).

So far I've installed the FloppyDTV card, the MCE drivers, and get Vista's Media Centre to do a channel search. This all went fine without issue, though when it asked about the EPG I wasn't sure if I should select the Sky option or go with the 'unspecified digital' option. I chose the later thinking it might cover more channels with the intention of using the Radio Times site later, with BladeRunner etc.

Next up I wanted flash the fun4. Some folks say you need your IRD, some say it doesn't matter. However I got mine from the STBs Engineers menu and converted the first 10 digits (there seems to be 12 in total) to hex.

I tried reading the supplied paired card then to get the boxkey but it didn't seem to work. The software fails to read it Again though some people say you don't need this as long as you use the same one that's on the CAM... ?

So I tried to find the CAMs box key. CAM is inserted (without fun4) and I've loaded up FireDTV Viewer. I right-click, go to View, View Cam and it displays a window with two items in the menu 'Select CA' and 'Embedded'.

'Select CA' lists a load more options such as 'Via', 'Cx', 'Shl' etc.. nothing about the box key.

So no luck there. Not to be detered I thought I'd use NiagraEdit, edit a ex-c&w rom11 file and input my IRD, a boxkey I found off the 'net, the latest keys from Chatters/BigMaq and flash with a ChaosV3 firmware.

Popped that into the CAM that's in the FloppyDTV and still nothing.

ARGH. And I thought this would all be simple !!

I don't suppose there is something obvious I'm doin wrong here is there or some easy steps to follow to sort it out?

Thanks guys.

Ah wait a minute. Those 'Via', 'Cx' etc are encryptions methods aren't they and there is no 'Nagra'... Yellow Zeta CAMs don't support it? See something easy I was doing wrong!

I don't suppose you can flash these things to a different version?? And if so, where are the flash files and can you do that via a card somehow?

not sure whether u can flash the yellow zeta with the joker 0.79 firmware, i've only ever done the blue or white icecrypts.....there is a funcard 4 (2cards) or funcard 5 (1card) method bit i never had any success and ended up getting a cas 2+ interface to flash the joker firmware on to my cam.......i'll see if i can dig out the card method...but i wouldn't bank on it working

ps use the sky epg to begin with as the bladerunner/RTxmltv takes a lot of setting up

Hi - thanks.

I assume the IceCrypt 0.79 is the Joker firmware then, seeing as under Joker it says to see IceCrypt.

There is a how-to on that site but the firmware files you can download only has 2 files in - the hex and the bin. They do seem to fit on a fun4 though... *scratches head*.

I'll see if it works..

EDIT: That didn't work. Didn't give any upgrade option when inserted into the CAM through the CI interface program. Might just be that it didn't fit or it was the wrong flash though I guess. Really am shooting in the dark here. Guess I might have to get a CAS2+ programmer then or buy another CAM with the firmware on it from HiSat.

EDIT: Just found v0.78 for Fun4. Flashed the card with the first two files, inserted into the CAM and again no options to upgrade.

TwinTown. What CAS2+ programmer do you use/recommend? Looks like I'll be purchasing one of those real soon.

Thanks.

Cynan hi, afaik IRD 8 numbers (hex) for a fun with the floppy just needs to be something realistic, the boxkey 16 numbers (hex) should be the same as the cam to pair with it (I think) sure the BK I pm’d is the default for the card. The flash file I used for a fun was from Thechatterboxcc, go to files&fixes/cable files/card programming/funcards/complete funcard (this is a file called AU +normal) in there is an autoupdate CryptHexCW v3 or the one for your area. The Ext.EEprom you create with BK +IRD etc yourself. In the downloads the guide by ciwan you mentioned in another post is easy to follow.

I’ve PM’D you with the BK +IRD I used, try this it may work before you buy the programmer.

the programmer use is a 1 off....if u want to send me the cam i can try to flash it with the joker 0.79 firmware...pm me if u want.....

ps the ird don't matter it's as willin says it's pairing the cam bk with the card that matters.....u can change the cam to whatever u like...8 pairs hexadecimal digits...

Thank guys!

I tried the flash on it's own onto the fun4 and still nothing. As it happens I found a Duolabs CAS2+ for £20 so thought what the heck - I might need one at some point anyway to upgrade the firmware (?). - Thanks though TwinTown. That's really very kind of you to offer.

So I set up the CAS2+ programmer, inserted the JCard as per the instructions, put in the CAM, connected the cable and started to flash v0.79.

Up pops an error saying it can't write to the CAM. I wonder if that's because it needs to be erased first? So I click erase and the write. This time it all works.

Once flashed I do as it says, remove the CAM and then the JCard. Now I put the CAM back into the programmer and went to the CI interface so I could set the boxkey up and there it sits saying it's trying to initialise and no CAM is found. :-/

Repeated these steps a few times now and I get the same.

Just an update. I've now got it working on Media Centre and got the Xbox 360 linked as an extended - one word of warning for that, DON'T USE 3RD FIREWALLS! Took me a while to figure that one out but now with Windows Firewall it's workin sweet.
