I think I have Bu**ered it mate; flashed ok, wrote okay then tried to reboot itself and locked up with a flashing cursor on the tv. Tried using the remote - nothing, have rebooted the box, the new sportster image comes up and then the dreaded flashing cursor again.
I have tried to reconnect via ftp and the software continually searches the root of the box...
There is some writing on the lcd but cannot read it... any more ideas chaps; am searching the forum for how to revive it

Trying not to send you down a blind alley here mate. Is it a dbox2 x2?
there have been problems with the existing images, i.e. keys not auto-updating.
So you may be better flashing Lincsat's new beta image that appears to overcome this obstacle thus far. If you are updating the keys everyday there is a rom 7 fix that looks promising. Both are on this forum if you have a look around.

Turn off windows firewall
Disable wireless network connection

Rename image file mtd3.img and store it in C:\

set Local Area Connection network IP to 192.168.0.201
( IFA automatically sets dbox IP to 192.168.0.202 )
configure Local Area Connection link speed / duplex mode to 10Mbps / half duplex

open IFA
select image for flashing ( mtd3.img from C:\ )
select network device ( there should only be one available )
switch dbox on
press start
a dialogue box pops up
switch dbox off
click ok
switch box on
flashing should begin
progress is indicated on LCD ( IFA image on TV screen )
Fertig and smiley faces on LCD means success
disconnect network
off then on at the mains

The flash process takes three or four minutes.

Note that it might not kick in first time, but this method will flash your box and / or recover from a kein system / loading kernal error.

Good luck
Trying to flash my DBox and done everything up to pressing start after switching the dox on and get an error message:

"The UDP-Port 67 and 68 is already in use by Internetconnection sharing[svchost.ext] To continue you will need to deactivate this"

Any help would be brilliant as this is starting to do my head in now

OK I have sorted this issue now but now have another problem. Hopefully someone can help...

open IFA
select image for flashing ( mtd3.img from C:\ )
select network device ( there should only be one available )
switch dbox on
press start
a dialogue box pops up
switch dbox off
click ok
switch box on

I get to this stage and it doesnt flash. The screen on the dbox goes blank and a window opens and at the bottom says pinging dbox failed.

Please Help

I have a dbox2 and have image commado using ifa 2.2
