Easy Guide help needed

Hi there people,
I have 2 dboxes which my dad can't upgrade, I use Eurovoxes and they are simple to use with the RS232 cable and the easy software.
Is there a basic guide on how to reflash the Dbox as I havent got a clue, I hear that they can be updated vis a file fransfer but I just don't know how. I am looking for the Idiots guide to upgrading a Dbox lol. I believe it can be done via the RS232, network cable and or router. I would really appreciate your help.Never touched a dbox so a big big help needed!

Alll you need is a rj45 crossover cable and a copy of ifa
Select your image
Select your network
No null mowdem Tick
SWITCH BOX OF AT WALL AT THIS point
Push ok Switch on boxand it should start Flashing within 1 min
If it dont just switch off at the wall and back on till it does
No need to touch the pc
To find out wot chip your sagem is
If its a Nokia it will deffo be 2 c x chip
Just run FLASHCHECK...................Paul __

I use IFA version 2.2 and the following procedure works using a crossover cable on its own.

Turn off windows firewall
Disable wireless network connection

Rename image file mtd3.img and store it in C:\

set Local Area Connection network IP to 192.168.0.201
( IFA automatically sets dbox IP to 192.168.0.202 )
configure Local Area Connection link speed / duplex mode to 10Mbps / half duplex

open IFA
select image for flashing ( mtd3.img from C:\ )
select network device ( there should only be one available )
switch dbox on
press start
a dialogue box pops up
switch dbox off
click ok
switch box on
flashing should begin
progress is indicated on LCD ( IFA image on TV screen )
Fertig and smiley faces on LCD means success
disconnect network
off then on at the mains

The flash process takes three or four minutes.

Note that it might not kick in first time, but this method will flash your box and / or recover from a kein system / loading kernal error.

hi all
having a play around with a m8's nokia dbox2 which only shows fta channels
i have tried to install a newer flash using your method mentioned above but it keeps stalling part way threw the flash
tried the blade trinity final update 2x 270408
i even ftp the file using i e to ftp://192.168.0.100/tmp
i followed this guide

1. Press "Dbox" on the remote
2. Select "Service Menu" (3rd from bottom) and hit "OK"
3. Select "Image Update" (very last option)
4. Select "Flash Read/Write" (2nd Option)
5. Select "Write One Partition" (2nd From Bottom)
6. Select "Flash without bootloader"
7. Select the Image to flash. If you can't see the image make sure its the correct image and that it
has been extracted ie make sure its a .img file and not .rar
8. Select yes if prompted to continue and your finished. The box will reboot and your nearly there
no image was in the menu to choose
do you have any ideas as its driving me insane
does the box need to be connected to a tv during reflashing as i dont have a tv in same room as pc
i ftp the img file then disconnect the dbox then take it into the living room to try out
the menu is empty every time
my network is configured correctly as i can transfer files ok just think im missing something

have you made sure you have the correct 1X or 2X image?
Both are available from the toolbar.

You lose the contents of the tmp folder when you unplug the box m8 !!!!!!

You don't need to have the box connected to a TV when flashing, use the LCD to navigate the menus.
