dbox still scanning for sat

hi guys,i managed to flash my dbox2(hooray)even put cables.xml into the zapit menu but when i scan it still searches for sat.i put a new tuner in it(cos the old 1 blew)and this is where the problem occured.the guy that i bought the tuner frm(e bay)insists it is 4 cable.does any1(inc me)think that this tuner is dud?is there any way of config on the tuner?or does any 1 know where i can buy a tuner frm.help me!!!!!thanks

Hi if you have a Sly dish you might connect it to it and you will find out which tuner it is, if you connect it to a dish on 28.2E and can scan the channels from it, then it is a satellite tuner you have bought, if, on the other hand it will not scan the satellite channels, it would appear you have a dud.

The cables.xml file would normally go in share/tuxbox m8 !!!

hi guys.i put the cables.xml into the share/tuxbox folder and it still scans 4 astra 9.2e.i only have cable so dnt wanna know if it works on sat cos i aint got a dish anyway.now considering the sat connections are different to the cable connections,i aint got a clue wots goin on.puzzled does not describe it.....help

Have you set your location and rebooted ? Have you altered scanning options to scan for cable ?

Last go mate do the following

FTP a UK cables.xml file to overwrite the existing cables.xml on the box and then find and open scan.conf and change where is says "satNameNoDiseqc=kabel deutschland" to one of the names in the cable.xml file like "satNameNoDiseqc=CableUK Sym6952".

IMPORTANT: now pull the power plug to the box instead of doing a software reboot or everything will default to kabel deutschland again.
Wot image is on the box
Are the XML in the correct location some differ
Lets know the image and ile check it out for you
If it still searches for sat Tuners Goosed .....Paul

i cant seem to alter frm sat 2 cable,when i go 2 scan i only have the option of astra 9.2e.am i in the right place?or do i have to do it frm sumwhere else?

I would suggest that you also try a complete reflash of the lacky image but using IFA, something might have gone read only or something. I have experienced some issues with scanning which was only fixed by flashing with IFA and not FTP + remote. ( Dont ask me why though, I dont know!)
