Default Getting out of sat-hobby, got really bored!

I am starting to get really bored now with dishes and all sort of things that surrounds this sat hobby, mostly because it isn't any sport anymore to setup a dish.

Exactly the same feeling i had back in the mid 90's when small dishes started to pop up everywhere with the first Astra 1A satellite.

Currently i am selling away all my satgear stuff as i will also move places soon but mostly because i am reaaaally bored, i have managed to sell most stuff now across Europe to people.

I am now heading more towards my passion for home cinema which i never lost interest for over the years, i had Laserdiscs and imported from the U.S long time ago, now with Blu-ray it's even more fun and the new mediaplayers coming out you can do most things you ever dreamed of doing.

Right now i have only fixed one of my spare fibo dishes onto Astra 2D, i don't need more, but as i said the picture quality of Sky sucks and is a shame on my HT system, but most sat channels are crap to be honest and all **** channels from Arabia and Russia and all with low quality content, not to mention all copies of Discovery on all providers.

When you feel like you want to puke when installing a dish, then you have reached the limit to yourself that it's time to break up and move on with things.

Then i got an email with photos from a friend in Romania who recently bought and installed a new Prodelin 3.7meter antenna i thought, man that is soooo old and out, those dishes we used back in 1983, its 25 years since.

Take care, will look in the forums some time but not as much as before as the same things go on and on all the time, nothing new happens.

Ciao!

Also have laserdisks - and still use 'em. Mainly from US. Remember when they cost circa £42 for a film - the good old days (not!). DVD's sure put paid to them. Not seen Blu Ray - deliberately so that I will not be tempted to buy Star Wars yet again! First VHS, then Laserdisc, then DVD ........ no more. George Lucas is retiring on my hard earned wonger. No more I say.

Know where you're coming from on Satellite ... there doesn't appear much to catch my interest at the moment either.

Anyway, best wishes in whatever you decide to do.

I sold all my LDs to a local cinema back in 1998.

Now i am back on Bluray but storing movies on discs doesn't seem so great anymore, i have been watching the new mediaplayers from Popcorn and TviX and more, i really like the idea of having a NAS to store all movies and then stream them.

They can even handle 1080p without problem in WLAN, then you can have library on your NAS and just pick whatever you like.

Likvid, there are many people on this forum, who, from time to time get bored with the usual chat, but input something to interest other friends on this forum. If that is beyond your skills , good bye, and

No i will actually keep that as i need a dish to get any tv at all, currently it's fixed at THOR satellite so i can get my swedish channels.

But i will not buy more stuff.

Reason is that i am also moving soon and i will not know if i am able to have a dish at all.

But the 55cm Fibo is a keeper even if it's in storage later on.

Probably the best dish ever made.
