My STAB has the metal gears and it survives the punishment well. That is the main problem with the dark place, any comments about products are biased.

These motors are made by the guys in Korea that make motors for many other brands

Thanks - so presumably if I get a motor (most probably metal) that will sustain a 110 dish then I should be fine.

Yep.

DiSEqC motors are the cheapest way to do it, but if you find that your installation is problematic, you could upgrade to a more expensive and stronger 36V one.
