The only way they can detect any box on their system is if it talks back to the network
The dbox doesn't as far as i am aware ![]() They don't bother removing the line from the cab in the street as its too much hassle, so your line will work without any problem after you stop their services ![]() Nano

We're getting BB only next week (no phoneline or TV) along with a Eurovox.
I've been advised that this setup will be fine to power the Eurovox box and get all the channels - despite not having any official tv package as such. Anyway my girlfiend's brother reckons that even if the EV doesn't talk back as such that it still makes some "noise" on the line that VM can detect. I'm a bit concerned that even if the box does make this so called "noise" the fact that we haven't got an official tv sub will make us stick out like a sore thumb. Is there any truth in this? |

Uk cable companies have spent a fortune preventing ingress into their system. Ingress is where "noise" enters the cable system from faulty or just generally noisy electrical equipment. Every piece of electrical equipment generates noise. Some very small but some are extremely bad like baby monitors. If the Cable system is built correctly and every single connection is "made" correctly then the noise cannot enter. The official cable box obviously is made with this in mind. Non official boxes normally donīt meet these standards and this is where your problem may lie. If you put a noisy box on the system and your noise causes faults for other people on your street then this may draw attention to yourself.
In reality the chances that you will get detected are quite small but there is always some risk in doing something illegal. Good luck |
