Thats a million dollar question (for a £100 box)
![]() I always unplug mine completely from the mains. However, I have the tv, EV, DVD & xbox connected to a 4way socket with surge protector. The most common problem arises with a power surge which can cause the c14 capacitor to blow.

From the safety standpoint ....if the house is to be left unoccupied then the electricity should be turned off at the mains ...its better to be safe than sorry any time ...but if you keep tropical fish or reptiles or anything of that nature then they need the electicity on obviously ...so unplug all unecessary devices from their sockets......
