Default cant find services

Hi,

I am dealing with the following problem atm, I have a valid sky subscription card, a standard sky minidish and a 500s running gemini and ccCam.

I initially found all the channels on astra2 28.2E, then suddenly my dreambox said it couldnt find any service and was showing a BER. Then I switched to a different satellite and back to astra2. Now it's not showing a BER anymore but I can only find about 22 channels. I can't seem to find any more channels on this satellite and am stuck. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Seems to me your dish has moved, but we, here in Ireland, have not had any high winds lately, not sure about where you are. If the dish is OK, if you have a Sly box try it, then chances are the LNB has developed a fault.

Can you have a look and see if the 22 channels that you are receiving are all the one polarisation and let me know, because if they are all the same that would point to the LNB, it is either not getting the right voltage for switching polarity of the box has been messed with and the voltage changed.

You might try the cable and make sure that the F connectors are fitted correctly, they might have got pulled a bit and it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that you have a poor connection. Please make sure that the box is switched of before you ever do anything with the cable, if you take the cable from the box, when it is switched on you run the risk of damaging the box, the LNB or both.

Hope this is of a wee bit of help to you.

Very best regards Wez

Thanks for your help, I'm not sure what you mean by the same polarization as I am a noob. I am in the UK.

It must be a problem with the deambox cause if I stick the same LNB cable and card into my sly box this works fine so I dont think my dish is misaligned or there's anything wrong with the F connectors.

Any ideas?

Hi tuan, there is a possibility that you have tried to scan 28.2 but with the receiver selecting the 19.2 transponder list.

Make sure the correct transponder list is selected before scanning.

Additionally, I think it's only finding services on one transponder. Does that tell me anything? Thanks for all your help.

Is your Dreambox network connected to your PC? If so use an ftp prog like FlashFXP to look at the file satellites.xml in folder /var/etc of the Dreambox. That will list the satellites/transponders that are included for scanning. Also make sure the only FTA channels is not selected in the scan window.

What am I looking for? In the Astra2 node I see all the transponders, but it can only find the channels on the first transponder. I've attached the satellites.xml as .txt.

File Type: txt satellites.txt (261.9 KB, 8 views)

That sat list looks ok. When you get to the final page before scanning, the satellite to be scanned is not the one you selected on the previous page. You have to select Astra 2 satellite again The default on the Dreambox is Astra 1. Because some transponder frequencies are common to Astra 1 and Astra 2, scanning the wrong list while pointing at the other satellite will give only a few channels.

Whilst you have selected only a single satellite and have set it to scan that sat, the last page just before scanning will select 19.2E by default and it will lock onto channels. If you haven't changed the satellite to 28.2E then the set of transponders to be scanned will be wrong.

I go to Automatic transponder scan, select astra2 as that is the only one I can select and start scan. Still the same problem.
