Brilliant, will do that as soon as I get home, let's hope it works first time!!!

Can't believe how easy this seems to be compared to other methods, no wonder people love Dboxes so much...

dboxes are great fun mate, remember they can be used for more than just watching TV. They can be used for recording, streaming movies, music and viewing photos and more......

All the best my friend

Thanks, I downloaded the 2x version as I've read about the differences between the Sagem and Nokias on here, and mine definitely has 2 Intel flash chips on it's mainboard (thankfully not damaged by whatever blew the PSU up!!!)...

I presume kein is German for something bad?

Wow!! Makes it even more pleasing that I got the box free from a repair shop (been in there a year, apparently not cost effective to repair) and fixed it myself, I'm extremely impressed!!!

All Nokias have 2 flash chips.

My German is no good at all but kein system means there is no system on your box. The good thing is that this is no disaster as it's easily recoverable.

The only reason I got it is last year I went to the repair shop (he does vacuums too) as he had a Kirby G5 for sale hidden in amongst the forest of Dysons, and whilst I was trying out the Kirby I just spotted a dusty Dbox logo in a corner by the door, and I had heard of Dboxes, but at the time my hobby was with Satellite TV (FTA only) so I knew little about them other than they were a bit risque, I asked about it and he said the PSU was dead, went up in a big flash of light apparently, and a couple of weeks back I went there again for some parts for my mum's dead dyson and it was still there, so I asked if he wanted to get rid of it and he said I could have it for nothing, once I got it home I took it apart, took out the blown voltage regulator and two other parts I haven't a clue what they're called, pulled the same parts out of my old Nokia OnDigital box and hey presto, it powered up!!!

It might not last as the parts weren't identical going by the part numbers, but it seems to be ok, no smoke, no explosions, no fire, just a green display covered with flickering lines here and there (just seen some blue ones on eBay that look nice!!!)...

So I'm pleased with it, and with you saying yours was £225 makes me feel a little humble, but saying that, mine probably would have ended up on a landfill site had I not saved it...

I can't wait to get it fully working now...

Good for you mate.

I hope the TLC you've given this box pays off.

For anyone else out there with a non functional box that is hardware related it is deffo worth the effort and a few quid to have it repaired.

I hope so too, it was literally just 7 solder points to sort out, and that was it, box working...

I agree about repairing them, especially PSU faults, as the PSUs in these are very very very similar to those in the Nokia 9850T and 9800S and possibly other Nokias, so there's a few donor boxes out there just waiting to give up their parts, and it's not difficult to solder them in...

Well, it flashed without any difficulties and the box is working (still haven't hooked it up though), but there's one problem, I can't seem to be able to get FTP access to it anymore, the box is there and it logs on (User-root, Pass-Dbox2), but I can't see any files or folders and any folder names in the address bar (e.g. /tmp/) result in a "Folder not found" and "Make sure you have permission to access this folder" message, is there something different that needs tweaking or has something gone awry?

I haven't got the box with me today as it's sat at home hooked up to my USB TV card as I was fiddling with it (mostly trying to get FTP access!!!) and set my location, and I left it on overnight and a lot of the flickering lines on the LCD seem to have gone, leaving 3 or 4 lines, but my knowledge of them is that there's probably dust on the contacts, I might take the LCD apart and clean it, I have the right tools with my Kirbys so it should be easy as pie...

All I really need to do next is just hook it up, do a scan, find a Bouquet editor and set up my favourites and non-favourites and remove what I won't watch...
