I haven't got the box with me today as it's sat at home hooked up to my USB TV card as I was fiddling with it (mostly trying to get FTP access!!!) and set my location, and I left it on overnight and a lot of the flickering lines on the LCD seem to have gone, leaving 3 or 4 lines, but my knowledge of them is that there's probably dust on the contacts, I might take the LCD apart and clean it, I have the right tools with my Kirbys so it should be easy as pie...

All I really need to do next is just hook it up, do a scan, find a Bouquet editor and set up my favourites and non-favourites and remove what I won't watch...
Hi Breezy how's it goin ??

bear with me, as I'm I'm ****ed, lol.

You will need to re establish a network since the new image will have a different IP to your old image. Sorry I dont know the default Blade Quad IP but using remote press dbox > settings > network then change the box IP to suit your network then using the dbox functions restart network. This will let you talk to the box.

If you need more help be quick coz I'm gonna watch the US open or fall asleep !!!

All the best

I set the network settings to how I had them prior to flashing before I tried FTPing, but it won't let me view the files and folders...

There isn't a new password with the new image is there? I actually tried other basic passwords such as pass and admin and user and they came out with the same result, no rejected password message or anything, just a blank window with the usual Folder Tasks on the left...

All images have a defualt IP, unfortunately they are all different. Follow my instructions to find the new IP and set up your network to suit.

That's the thing, I set it all up again after flashing as I had set it before the flash, same settings on both laptop and box, I've been following a tutorial I got back when I got the box (in preparation for when I fixed it!!), and I followed it both times...

Let me say one more time m8, forget all your previous guides and settings as this new image will have an IP addy set up by the creator. I told you earlier where to find the addy of the box with the new image. Adjust your settings accordingly then you can talk to the box again.

That's what I did, I went dbox-settings-network, entered the IP details, saved and restarted the Dbox's network, then checked the settings on my laptop hadn't changed and they hadn't. IE6 is connecting to the IP I entered, it is asking for the username and password, which I entered, but after that, nothing,

The IPs entered (from memory from re-entering it so many times!!!):

DNS - 192.168.0.105
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Broadcast - 192.168.0.255

I enter the DNS with ftp:// at the beginning in IE's address bar, and I get the password box and then nothing...

Look at you box and find the IP addy then make sure it is set to one more than your NIC.

eg

PC = 192.168.2.3
dbox = 192.168.2.4

Now you have a network !!??

I'll have to try that later as I haven't got the box with me today...

Before the flash, the box was .0.100 and laptop was .0.101, and that worked. Going on my previous networking experience (having at one point set up a domain server with SQL), I could set any old IP on my laptop and on the box and it should work fine...

It's beginning to make me wish I had a DHCP server or a router (currently using just a 5-port switch)!!! :P

Normally the failsafe is that the PC IP is set to one LESS than the box IP.

Good luck mate

I'm off to watch the golf !!!
