Hi, i'm just wondering how easy is it to hack a cable modem? I got a spare ambit 250 modem which hasn't been used for sometime and thought i'd give it a go if it wasnt too hard.

I already pay for 20meg broadband but if i could get it free then that would be great

hi mate, ok it depends how long uve had the modem for as most of the modems around these days have been updated by vm so it would be hard but if yours hasnt been updated then youve got a shot..you need a max232 interface and a serial cable to hook it up to your comp...its easy after taht once you follow the kaynes guide. best bet is do some reading, use the search feature as there loads of post out there with info and if you get stuck, let us know.

well the spare modem i have hasn't been used for about 18 months or so.
