Default Options for HD Channels

Hi all,

I've been researching my options for receiving FTA HD channels and thought i'd seek some expert opinions.

Originally, i was just going to pop to one of the Freesat receiver sellers and buy the Humax Foxsat (as i'd read that this was the better box and had the non-freesat mode).

But now i'm wondering if there is an option to open up more HD channels by purchasing a receiver that is patchable.

I currently have an old S*y minidish sitting doing nothing but wondered if i could use this mount point to change to a motorised 80cm mesh dish? To be honest i'd want the least intrusive solution as it's on the front of the house. I did notice my local seller (Trac in Middlesboro do multiple LNB's for minidishes, so maybe tha would be easier).

What would be the best option? Can i receive all of the Freesat channels via something like the Technomate 6900 or Darkbox Rev 2008?

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Shaun

To get the most out of your system you will be best to motorise the dish, 80cm will be fine for 28, 19 and 13 east but if you wanted to get 16 east then a 100cm would be the better option. As for receivers I recomend the Technomate 6900 over the Darkbox, this is down to Technomate having better support and that you can record via the USB port onto a USB HDD unlike the Darkbox currently I say currently as the manufacturers of the Darkbox have been promising USB and e-SATA recording for months and still it has not happened.

Technomate like the Darkbox can be patched and also you will get all the Freesat channels including ITV HD.

Thanks for replying.

What sort of price would i be looking at for a setup and could i use the existing minidish mounting? Do you supply all i'd need?

Thanks again,

Shaun

I would not use your existing mount as this won't be strong enough, I supply a J stand wall mount alot stronger and will give you more than enough clearance so that the dish will not hit the wall, approx cost is £320 exc delivery and yes everything is included.

Thanks for the info. Is this price for the 6900 HD Combo?

Could you point me in the right direction to find out what HD channels i'd find on 28 , 19 and 13 east. Are most of the HD channels English audio also?

Cheers,

Shaun

PS Do you have a website?

I concur with cauliflower69, Ian is a real gentleman and what he says he will do he does. You would be well advised to chose him for anything you might need, because he will stand by his gear, something other will not do.

Very best regards Wez

Hey, I'm new here too yay.

I'm also looking at getting a completely new install (motorised) for watching as many channels as possible.

Ian do you install as far as London? I'd much rather go with someone who comes with recommendations!
