I was not sure about Scotland, but in Wales max size is 90cm, this is never enforced except on listed sites, and I am unaware of the Council ever doing anything about that.
Remember this also effects yagis as well as dishes. We have several streets bordering England as Wrexham County is a border county, in one street
both sides are in different countries, so on the Welsh side its supposed to be 90cm, with free prescriptions,
On the Cheshire side its 100cm, prescriptions £7 a go, take your pick.

Anyhow I note the pubs with soccer(non sky) pointed at Greek & albanian
stations use 1m and 1.5 m dishes, all triax grey(the giveaway). All the above can be seen on Wrexham town centre streets.

triax 1.1m is abit over the top for hotbird if they have nova these pubs you mention as its needed for digitalb on 16e though

i'm wondering which satellite they are aligned to these 1.5m dishes ?

I have read on several forums that 1.1m dish is fine but if you put up 1.2m than you will need planning permission.

I saw one of these outside a club in Wrexham, this in fact was a 1.1cm
triax dish, as it was just after xmas I am not sure which direction it was
pointed at, there was a sky dish,so it was either 16e or 39e I forget.
However the meeting I attended was inside this club, and in the room
was a technomate with a card in its mouth, when I mentioned it to the
owner his face went white, I said I was just a fan of sat and nothing to do with anything else. There was a raid in Conwy County(Llandudno) when the recievers & cards were taken from two pubs.

The giveaway is the dish its always Triax Blue/Grey, and either 1.1cm or
1.5cm, down the road there is a pub with a 1.5cm Ill have a look where its pointed next time I pass.

Well depends if its England or Wales(90cm max) if the dish is up high not many will know the diff, I have a friend who is a senior planning officer
for the County which is next door to me(100 meters away) his message is
just put it up, as the cost of seeking planning permission is over £250
a time, if and it is unlikely with one dish, you get reported, then you have
28 days to appeal by then putting in an application in retrespect.
My friend also says if someone does complain they have to put it in
writing and are warned this will be shown to the other party, if requested,so this usually stops vexacious complaints in planning.
If the dish is on a listed home or listed area my friend says his officers
would always have a quiet word first, but this as never occured.
Hence cost of dish say £80,cost of planning charges with the Council
in Wales(£250) prob same in England, is it worth it?
In my County Wrexham, there is a sea of big dishes(100s), no way
can the Council take action, or even want to.

Hi, had my first dish, 85cm, installed today. Glad its not illegal. At present I only want Freesat for BBC & ITV HD (but am intrigued by all the other channels I never knew about before).

What's Nova? I thought only Astra 1, Astra 2 & Hotbird could be picked up from the UK.

No, with an 85cm dish, many more satellites can be picked up for example, 30W,15W,12.5W,8W,5W,1W,5E,9E,16E,23.5E,39E,42E plus any others I've missed.

Next door to me,quarter mile away is a tetra mast(O2 Airwaves).

It is on land owned by a farmer who gets £5K per annum rental,
anyhows another outfit as approached the farmer,to buy the
small plot the cabin & ten meter pole sit on, they have offered
£35K, but nextdoor have been told if they join a group, the rent could be
almost double. Access to be site is over my lane which I give a right of way to the farmer(in deeds stipulation), I informed the farmer, if he were
to sell the plot for non farming, I dont have to give a right of way to others and would want to speak to the buyers, this of course has created a tension,I did remind the farmer,I had no objection so lond as he owned the land etc.

Anyhow planning permission was given by the CC for a ten meter pole,
on checking with the CC on other matters , it transpires O2 can put as many dishes on the ten meter pole as they like, this applies to tetra or
anything, so it seems if permission is given for a pole your garden
what you put on it is up to you.

I have to admit we are rural and not in a town,so I could have a dozen dishes for sat out of sight.

The CC also said, unless the building is listed, the size of dish up to
120CM would not be a problem, he also said any enforcement for
big dishes oversize is always brought by Sky/Football/and their agents.

The new regulations for the UK are a maximum of two dishes for a property up to 15M high.
The largest size dish should be no more than 1M,whilst the maximum size of the second size dish is 60cm,where no planning permission is required.
You could have more(without planning permission),as long they are within the maximum size and mounted on a non-penetrable ground/flat roof mount,I suppose.

So, I could have an extra dish near where my Sky minidish is and I could also flat roof mount two more?(to give total freedom when controlling the motor)-I live in a terraced house if that means anything

Also, if I put two more receivers on the attic(flat roof) could this be classified as a flat roof mount?
