Default Mac address problem

OK, i have had a 2mb connection as i am using my auntie in law mac, i also sniffed whilst at her home also, for macs.
In dhcp no configs came up and i have a few macs to use, so i manually changed the mac address as in the 250 tut, upto now tried 3 different ones as i am wanting a bigger meg connection 10 mb will be fine if i can get one.
But on the last 3 times i changed macs it always takes me to teh virgin home page saying they don't regonise the connection and to click one of the logo's either virgin or telewest to register the modem.
Is it a case of trying the 20 or so macs i have and hope that one pops up ok.
Anyway after these 3 i re-entered my aunties macs and now back online i.e able to come on the site and post this as kids have my legit one.
Best wishes
Foxy

your all getting confused, you dont need a 20 meg mac, you can yous 1 meg and change the config to make it 20,,unless you cant use configs in your area

You can trying forceing the config file if you havent already done so. The ambitconfig beta0.97 has a box for you tick to force the config file. Just put a tick in the box and select the business config from the drop down box and write the settings.

Im using a 2mb mac and forceing the 20mb business file. It all depends if your area lets you force the config files. Otherwise from what i understand youll have to leave your mac scanner on till it finds a 20mb connecton.

I have tried different config files and since doing so i have got nowhere, i put in the original as in tut with my good mac with2mb which was working perfect before i started to mess about
Since i did this i decided to reflash as i have done previously to get back original settings that worked, so i have been trying again to do this also but when after i do the P option which comes up and reconnect powerand do as tut which works well before i should get a lot of lines of dots instead i now get this.
I am not sure what is going wrong and is their a way of correcting it or have i messed modem?

Sorry so long about reply, been online for few hours since post, just been trying to figure the config thing out, keeping the modem at 2mb for now until i have more time to play as it is frustrating me, so as long as have net for time being i am happy, just putting in config's and not getting connection back i have to go through the process of flashing again and do tut to make sure i have at least some net.
WELL the problem was the idiot namely me forgot to connect the ethernet cable COUGH COUGH
