hi
yes - the invacom - sharp - and edision were about equal in performance on the 1.00 metre -the edision best only by a fraction ,
the inverto c-120 with c.m. feedhorn was not quite as good as the 3 lnb.s above - which surprised me realy - as i expected it to perform best

mind you they all were better than the echostar 0.9 that came with the dish - l.o.l ---------- see below

regards c.c.

@chorleycat

i have a channel master 1.2.dish
at the moment i use a golden interstar dual lnb

i was told that to get the best out of a 1.2 dish i needed to get the feedhorn??
couldn't seem to justify the price of a new feedhorn and dual c120 lnb
so it is very interesting to note that you get better results with the other lnbs

abr, yes the matched feedhorn is supposed to be the best on the dish but the verdict varies on this as some say its better but i've never tried it yet but i shall as i got the feedhorn with the dish i have here so i might as well try it

i think it might be better as with the feed being large you could have a better rain fade margin

only really way to test is on a weak satellite and with a good meter to measure the db signal level or spectrum trace

ive got a cm 1.2 with the cm feedhorn ive tested it back to back using old cambridge gold 0.7dB uni lnbs. I would estimate an extra 10-12% of signal using the feedhorn. You must remember the scalar rings in the feedhorn were designed for the dish and not any old dish as in a lnb that has its own feedhorn

Yes, that Edison SL-5 is good... I was going to try the feedhorn, as I really want a 1.2, but that can wait for now. I still have not set it up properly, as I am having some problems with the ground mount, but 11862V, 7W is watchable in any weather, 11W is OK, so I can't complain for a 90cm.
Funnily enough, the best part of this package is not the dish or polar mount, but the galvanised girders. They weigh about 180 pounds alone and I could easily put a few hundred kg of kerb/paving stones on it, so as it's non penetrating, no planning problems for the big 2M dish I'm planning to get!
Anyone know where I can get a 1.2 dish face?

not sure if southern satellite can get them but satcure and satellite superstore sell them

i shall be attempting to install my 90cm andrews on 1224 motor if there is a dry spell this weekend, even if i just get to bolt it up and just align to 1west will be something.
